Positive Choices during wet day lunch

When you glimpse into Room 14 during a wet morning tea or lunch break, you will see our PB4L values in action.  The children make positive choices about activities they can do to have a safe and happy time indoors.

Here's just a few examples of how Room 14 enjoyed  inside play in respectful and responsible ways this week.

Book Week is here!

We are enjoying some exciting book week activities. 

We have had guest readers in class each morning to read to us. This is exciting!

Golden tickets were swapped at our annual NWS book swap.

Mrs Chester is reading books from the stop drop and read bag that librarian Carol has made up for our class.

Books and reading is so much fun.  We can't wait for the book character parade on Thursday.

Air Pollution

In health we are asking questions and exploring environmental and safety issues relating to traffic congestion and air pollution.

We conducted an experiment to explore the pollution emitted by vehicles.

Ollie helped Miss Heer to put a clean white sock over tthe exhaust pipe of a big old four wheeled drive.

The cars engine was then turned on and left to run for some time.  We could smell yucky fumes!

When the sock was removed we compared it to a clean one.

The sock that had been on the exhaust pipe was smelly and filthy.  We could see that the gas, particles and fuel waste that came from cars was dirty.  The experiment helped us to understand that cars have an impact on clean air.

So the challenge is to now think of how each of us along with our families, can reduce pollution  that causes harm to our environment.

Can we walk more often?  Maybe car pool?  Use bikes and scooters to get around our neighbourhood? Have you any other ideas?
