Milo and Cookies Night

Story time.

Laughter.

Book Character Parade 2015

Mrs Chester seemed absent in the morning.  Class was taken by Mrs Wishy Washy.

Dairy Farm Trip

We found some cow pats to test out our boots.

We felt the suction of the milking cups on our thumbs.

Here are some feed troughs.  This one smelled interesting!
Mud can be found all around the farm!

Lynette showed us how the milking shed equipment worked.

Thanks farmer Brian for transforming your barn into our morning tea and lunch room.  We loved eating on and in the hay.

Rides on the 'magic gate' was a load of fun!

There is much to contemplate and consider if you are a farmer.
Tractor drivers were very enthusiastic!
Shelby the goat was more interested in being patted or butting us than his healthy cabbage snack.

What a fab farm day.

Maths Challenge - Making Ten

Last week we worked in our table groups to complete a number of maths challenges as part of recognising Maths Week 2015.

Look at the work below.  These photos show the workings of each group for the five minute challenge of making ten in anyway they could think of.  The group leader was the scribe and the team was responsible for contributing their thinking.

Puriri Group

Lady Bugs

Little Owls

Pohutukawa

Piwakawaka

We were all impressed at the number of ways we made ten as groups and together as a class.

Our working pages show we are able to use addition, repeated addition, subtraction and multiplication.  We are also learning the commutative principle ('reversals').

We are working on extending our skills in 'working' with and 'playing' with numbers.

Road Safety

Constable Cam visited our class this week to teach us about safety on and around roads.

We went for a walk and looked out for sneaky driveways and practised the steps for safely crossing roads.

On Friday we learnt about being a safe passenger and the importance of wearing seat belts.  Here are some photos of our class doing up our own seat belts and having a turn in a police car.

Thank you Constable Cam!
